At IONS, we have been fortunate enough to have some incredible volunteers and interns who support our work from all over the world. We have so much gratitude for these amazing people who contribute their time, skills and passion to our exploration of the noetic sciences. The individuals who volunteer or intern with us come from a range of backgrounds, education, and experiences. We deeply value our volunteers/interns and want our relationship to be mutually supportive so we provide training, access to IONS content, mentorship, and/or education credits, among other things. We wanted to share what it’s like from the perspective of someone who has been supporting our work for a few years now, Ebru Engin, MA, MBA who lives in Instanbul, Turkey and works with us remotely. Ebru is incredibly dedicated, skilled and is whip-smart. This blog is a brief interview about her experiences with IONS.
The mind-body connection — it’s something scientists around the world have been studying for years. IONS scientists have made some interesting discoveries about this topic through their research on meditation and how it can positively affect your overall health. Last week I ran into Shepherd Aaron of Sweetgrass Grazing as he was setting up his gear to work the land — a quick six-foot distance “bump into” that resulted in me walking away with still-warm fresh goat’s milk. As I left holding my quart of milk, I was overwhelmed with the sweetness and richness of community, of support, of small moments that make me feel so fed and connected. Even as my bank account dwindles and my social calendar stays empty, I realize my somatic shape is bountiful and abundant. Small gifts make such a huge impact; whether a true moment of eye connection and laughter above masks or a jar of fresh milk.
On May 12th, IONS collaborated with HeartMath and the Global Consciousness Project to present the Nurses’ Global Coherence 2020 event, a global coherence project to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s 200th Birthday and honor the heart of humanity and the caregiver in all of us. This event brought people together from around the world to participate in a world-wide synchronized meditation. For nearly five decades, IONS has been devoted to studying various forms of knowing. What we mean by knowing is how people receive information from the interconnected field of consciousness — beyond traditional concepts of space and time. Some of these ways of knowing include, but are not limited to, intuition, telepathy, clairvoyance, clairaudience, precognition, etc. We each have an individual and unique way of accessing or expressing this information and energy, like a thumbprint. At IONS, we refer to this as your “Noetic Signature.” Researching this phenomenon is one of IONS main research focuses right now.
