Eight years ago this month as I made my way to my first IONS Conference, I could have never predicted the life-changing journey that was about to unfold. I boarded Southwest Flight 1111 (surely an indicator) and arrived at the conference location near Palm Springs feeling like an explorer on a solo adventure. I literally knew no one, having only recently become an IONS Member. I remember feeling like a kid in a candy store, as I raced to every plenary session and breakout workshop that I could fit into my schedule. However, it was the profound sense of being part of an interconnected family — “coming home” as many IONS Members say — that is the most palpable feeling I remember to this day.
It is with heartfelt gratitude that we announce the successful completion on June 30, 2021, of the “Illuminate Our Interconnection” fiscal year-end fundraising campaign. With matching gifts from a group of donors including the IONS Board of Directors, in addition to donations from more than 350 individuals from around the world, we have exceeded our ambitious $800,000 fundraising goal! While we are still finalizing the exact total, we are thrilled to share this wonderful news.
Every two years, IONS selects three people under 35 who are bringing noetic perspectives to the world and presents them with the NextGen Consciousness in Action Awards. Winners of the Award each receive a $1,000 prize and are invited to speak at one or more events sponsored by IONS, which help to share information about their important work. We are excited to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the 2021 Awards.
Is consciousness created by the physical brain? Or can our consciousness actually impact the physical world? Decades of studies by IONS researchers and others suggest that consciousness can and does impact the physical world through psychokinesis or PK.
A Qualitative Study on the Relationship Between Stress, Trauma, and Breast Cancer Development
Often when people have lost arms or legs, the missing limb feels as if it is still there. A man who had his leg amputated below the knee 20 years ago, told me he is still aware of its presence, especially when it is painful or when his missing foot seems to itch. A woman who lost her left leg because of bone cancer, said it felt so real that about a year after the operation she forgot that it was not there. When she got out of bed she tried to put her weight on her phantom leg and fell over. People who have had an arm amputated often try to reach out and pick up the telephone or other objects.
There is an ever-growing body of evidence that psychic abilities like telepathy, psychokinesis, astral projection, and channeling are not only real — they’re quite common. In fact, an overwhelming body of evidence suggests that humans can access information beyond conventional notions of time and space.
IONS completed a large pilot study of 17 energy medicine practitioners giving sessions to people with hand and wrist pain. One unique aspect of this pilot study was that one clairvoyant seer recorded observations during the almost 200 sessions. However, one limitation of these interesting results was that it was only with one seer. IONS has launched a new study building on this previous work that focuses on Reiki practitioners and including six seers!
The present framing of the debate between materialism/physicalism versus post-materialism/spirituality has allowed materialism to go unchallenged as the only rationally-viable metaphysics.
