We are pleased to announce the selection of eight distinguished finalists for the third annual Linda G. O’Bryant Noetic Sciences Research Prize. Building on last year’s focus on non-local consciousness, the 2025 award turns toward one of the most profound frontiers of science and technology: the possibility of conscious artificial intelligence (AI).
At IONS, we love sharing the latest research on consciousness and energy – but what excites us even more is hearing your questions! They bring the science to life, revealing the personal connections, deep curiosities, and unexpected insights that make this work so meaningful. In our recent ConnectIONS Live webinar, a conversation between IONS Director of Experience and Engagement, Kerstin Sjoquist, and IONS Scientist, Garret Yount, PhD, your curiosity took us on a journey through the science and mystery of subtle energy. We explored his book, Why Vibes Matter: Understand Your Energy and Use it Wisely, and his newly released IONS course: The Energy of People, Places and Spaces.
We would like to thank everyone who has generously supported IONS for Giving Day. Timed with the Summer Solstice on June 20, Giving Day was a high-impact, virtual gathering that featured inspirational insights and discussions from IONS leaders. We received gifts in May and June from 1,588 total donors, raising $417,390 total, with contributions coming from 49 states and 31 countries. This global participation shows the far-reaching impact of our community. We are especially excited to welcome 241 first-time donors, whose new energy adds to the collective momentum.
Yoga is an ancient practice that has made a global impact in the last century, and for good reason. Yoga, which combines poses (called asanas) with intentional breathing exercises (pranayama), has been shown to improve overall health, well-being, and the sense of joy and contentment. Studies have shown that it also helps to reduce stress and anxiety while improving general cognitive functioning, including attention, emotional regulation, and self-awareness.
As we journey through life, we accumulate cherished memories, valuable assets, and meaningful relationships. Each of us has a unique story to tell, and it is natural to wish for our legacy to endure beyond our time on this planet. However, it can be easy for many of us to put off crucial decisions about estate planning. In an effort to encourage people to embrace the power of their legacy and ensure their wishes are honored, IONS is proud to support National Make-A-Will Month.
What does it take to achieve happiness? That depends on the type of happiness you seek. For example, eating ice cream right now may bring you happiness in the present moment, but will it bring you lasting peace? When approaching that idea, the path to happiness can sometimes feel like a more overwhelming task.
When first hearing of psychedelic psychotherapy, most people usually think of the psychedelic experience as the sole focus of this new therapy. But there is so much more to the process, and all of it is equally important for the transformation and health of the client.
Excess correlation has drawn the attention of researchers interested in uncovering subtle, nonlocal connections in nature. The concept of excess correlation refers to an interaction between properties of systems that are physically isolated from one another once they are both exposed to a shared sequence of magnetic field pulses. Though the systems are not in direct contact, the observed effects of excess correlation have been reported in varying experiments, including changes in water pH, seed germination rates, cell growth, photochemical reactions, and even brain activity and behavior.
What if your intuitive impressions could help redefine how science understands consciousness? What if your gift could contribute to one of the most ambitious research programs ever conducted on mediumship?
