As a valued part of our community, I wanted to share about the latest development for IONS in this historic time in the life of our organization.
“We have a lot of thinking to do about what being an ‘advanced civilization’ really means.” IONS Founder Edgar Mitchell
The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) is pleased to announce the upcoming release of IONS Scientist Dr. Arnaud Delorme’s book, “Why Our Minds Wander: Understand the Science and Learn How to Focus Your Thoughts.” Scheduled for release on December 19, this publication is available for pre-order from Bookshop, Target, and Amazon.
IONS is conducting a study on medical intuition. We are seeking 5-10 clinicians to be part of the project.
Our young ones are not feeling good. That’s the conclusion of studies conducted by Dr. Gayle Kimball including over 4,000 youth in 88 countries. She has written several books and developed spiritual tools to help kids and teenagers with mental health. Gayle participated in a ConnectIONS Live webinar which you can watch at the IONS member portal in its entirety.
Do moments of profound human attention – such as major global events or historic moments that capture the collective gaze and evoke shared highs and lows – leave an indelible mark on the physical world? The philosophy of dual-aspect monism proposes just such an intimate relationship between mind and matter. According to this philosophy, one might predict that when many minds become collectively coherent by focusing their attention toward the same captivating event, then aspects of the physical world might also become more coherent.
Is death the end of our existence – or is there something more? Humans have pondered the question for eons. Excitingly enough, dismissing the idea of life after death gets increasingly harder. A huge contributor to this is NDEs.
I start by acknowledging the current world situation— the war between Israel and Hamas, conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the continuing war in Ukraine, and everyone everywhere, all life facing existential threats. We extend our heartfelt care and concern as we reaffirm that the mission of IONS is intended to elevate humanity and our planet beyond the levels of consciousness that are creating these conditions for self-destruction. And it is all “Self.”
Our fourth post in the IONS 50th Anniversary blog series is an article based on Willis Harman’s prescient book, Creative Work: The Constructive Role of Business in Transforming Society, written with John Horman in 1990. In it, Willis highlights one of the most inconvenient truths of the time that persists today — that in our materialist paradigm, we’ve built global systems in pursuit of profit and power that are incompatible with humanity’s overall well-being and Earth’s global ecology. As he pointed out in last month’s reprint, “Where is Our Positive Image of the Future?,” when societal contradictions seem too threatening, we can simply fail to notice them. It’s this failure to see that has allowed us to continue to wage war with our planet and with ourselves.
The field of biofield research has been steadily gaining traction in recent years. I recently attended the Biofield Research Conference held at the Menla Retreat Center in upstate New York from September 25-28, 2023. It served as a platform for experts, researchers, and enthusiasts to come together and delve deeper into the understanding and significance of the biofield. In this blog, I will provide an overview of the conference and its crucial role in shaping the biofield community.
