Clairvoyance is sometimes used as a catch-all term for psychic abilities, but it literally translates to “clear seeing.” In parapsychology, clairvoyance is defined as the “perception of distant events or images” (Real Magic by Dean Radin). It is sometimes thought of as any psychic ability that is an “extension” of our eyesight. In this blog, we’ll explore what clairvoyance is — both the direct experience of it and the abundance of scientific study about it.

It’s like living with a jackhammer inside my body. My teeth grate and jaw tightens. I feel the heart flutter into my throat and my stomach clenches. At the worst of times, I find myself looking out the window waiting for them to come, whoever they are. My wife would watch in concern and care, but could never understand what living with PTSD was like. I couldn’t sit with my back to any door or open space; I would jump and swear if the doorbell rang unexpectedly; I’d have random, horrific visions of my dog dying while I was enjoying my morning swim.

David Lorimer, Programme Director of the Scientific and Medical Network, joined us on March 4th to speak on the poignant topic of “Towards a Culture of Love and Wisdom” at a time when war and militarism are once again in the forefront of the news. However, many visionary philosophers and mystics have indicated that our evolutionary trajectory is towards global spiritual awakening represented by a culture of love and wisdom. David’s sense is that this is happening at the same time as divisions are increasing and that the situation requires us to be anchored in our deep center of stillness within, while also engaging in spiritual activism to support the realization of our ideals.

Did you know that there is now an NFT (non-fungible token) that was inspired by IONS? Paper artist Yulia Brodskaya was invited by Time Magazine to participate in their “Slices of Time” project,  a collection of NFT art representing specific moments in time. The idea behind the project was to look at what has happened in the past and what the future may bring.

IONS has launched a new research study and is seeking experienced meditators to participate!

The Institute of Noetic Sciences acknowledges the significance of expanding the legacy and accessibility of noetic science to the next generation of explorers who are uniquely positioned to take this field to new heights. Every other year, IONS selects individuals under age 35 who are bringing noetic perspectives to the world and presents them with the NextGen Consciousness in Action Awards. Winners of the Award each receive a $1,000 prize and are invited to speak at one or more events sponsored by IONS, which help to share information about their important work.

There is not only a revolution in the way our consciousness works — see my blog “Change Your Mindset” — there is also a revolution in our very understanding of the nature of consciousness. There is a new concept emerging at the cutting edge of science and philosophy, and this concept is very different from the old established concept.

On Friday, February 25th, our 2021 Consciousness in Action Award winner, Jo’el Adifon, joined us for an enlightening webinar. Drawing from his Italian origins, West African roots, and interdisciplinary studies, Jo’el blends transpersonal psychology and physiology with lifelong immersion in the supernatural.

After extensive and deeply noetic deliberation, we’ve made the strategic decision to sell our EarthRise campus in Petaluma, California to The Hoffman Institute, the non-profit organization that had been renting our campus since the pandemic began in 2020. While their purchase offer was unexpected, clarity emerged quickly as we took stock of how dramatically our world had changed during the past two years. Ultimately, pressures resulting from global COVID restrictions provided the impetus for IONS to reassess how to best fulfill our purpose — at the same moment that we’re preparing to celebrate our 50th anniversary (1973 – 2023) and set forth a powerful new vision for our next 50 years.
