Resilient businesses keep track of relevant global trends, and companies have long understood how to manage risks associated with those trends. More recently, they are learning about the distinction between risks and impacts, and are getting better at articulating and quantifying both. The right frameworks and specific metrics for reporting on sustainability and ESG efforts are critically important but are not the full picture. One major aspect may be missing in truly achieving sustainable results and becoming a leader in this space: a shifting mindset. In this article, we will focus on two mindset shifts and their ability to make a significant impact beyond the business.

In the past, companies have seen environmental concerns and business goals as two distinct issues—at best unrelated to one another, at worst in opposition.

As we recently came together from all parts of the world for the first time in over two and a half years for our Spring Associate meeting for Inogen Alliance, a main focus of our meetings was around Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG). It quickly became apparent the differences of ESG integration and knowledge between regions and developing vs developed nations. For some ESG has been around for a while, whilst for others it’s a new acronym and being pushed down from the headquarters of larger multinational organizations for their corporate reporting. This wave of ESG is not slowing down but gaining momentum. In this article we’ll look at some of the most pressing ESG trends and insights we discussed across our global environment, health, safety and sustainability consultants as we have been integrating ESG into all of our practices for global clients.

The United Nations established World Water Day in 1993 in order to have a dedicated, internationally recognized, and recurrent occasion to celebrate the importance of water. This celebration aims to embrace and highlight the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Agenda for 2030, in particular the goal of availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

What is Cultural Diversity in International Business?

Many of today’s large corporations span across diverse locations around the world to do business globally or to operate within global supply chains. With this global mindset of doing business, we need to remember that we do not all share the same instincts nor approach, but in fact, we are operating in many nuanced specific geographic regions and countries that are unique in the way they do business. Though we collaborate to deliver consistency and exceptional results in our project work, awareness and recognition of unique cultural behavioral differences can further encourage shared understanding and enhance flexible thinking and communication.

What Are Carbon Offsets?

At a high level, an offset is a tool used to compensate for emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in other locations. Carbon offsets come in two fashions; avoided emissions and emission reductions. An example of an avoided emission would be converting landfill gas into a fuel used for combustion. This avoids emittance of landfill gas to the atmosphere and also reduces emissions from sourcing traditional fossil fuels.
