Congratulations to IONS Senior Fellow, Dr. Marilyn Schlitz, who is one of two individuals selected to receive the Parapsychological Association‘s Outstanding Career Award this year. The award recognizes sustained (20 years or more) research or service contributions that have advanced the discipline of parapsychology.

Heartfelt thanks to all who participated in Giving Tuesday this year. As many of you know, Giving Tuesday marks the launch of our end-of-year fundraising campaign. This year, our campaign goal is $500,000 with $250,000 being provided by a group of donors as a challenge match. Our award-winning submission to the BICS essay contest may have the answer.

People throughout history and across all cultures have believed in some sort of afterlife — and there is a significant amount of scientific evidence that supports this belief. Our team at IONS recently submitted a paper on the survival of human consciousness after death to an essay contest hosted by the Bigelow Institute for Conscious Studies (BICS). We are pleased to announce that we were one of 29 winners of the contest, which saw a total of 205 essay submissions from over 1000 initial applicants.

In his landmark new book, The Matter with Things, Dr. Iain McGilchrist argues that we have become enslaved to an account of things dominated by the brain’s left hemisphere, one that blinds us to an awe-inspiring reality that is all around us, had we but eyes to see it. He suggests that in order to understand ourselves and the world we need science and intuition, reason and imagination, not just one or two; that they are in any case far from being in conflict; and that the brain’s right hemisphere plays the most important part in each. In September, Dr. Helané Wahbeh, IONS Director of Research, released her groundbreaking book The Science of Channeling: Why You Should Trust Your Intuition and Embrace the Force That Connects Us All, which explores the cutting-edge science behind the phenomenon of channeling, and offers powerful tools to help you hone your own abilities. We are really excited to see that the Science of Channeling is already making a big impact and we have been hearing from people all over the world who have been seeking answers about channeling either personally or professionally.

The Noetic Global Gatherings webinar series operated from February, 2018 through July, 2020 and consisted of over 20 online presentations featuring experts in the field of noetic science. These webinars focused on cutting-edge noetic research and transformative learning, bringing together a dynamic collection of people dedicated to exploring a wide range of noetic topics.
