As part of the Smart London Infrastructure Network challenge competition, Technics is pleased to announce that it won the opportunity to pitch the Stream EM to members of the Infrastructure Network, which includes representatives from some of the largest infrastructure projects in London.
Organised by BRE in partnership with the Mayor of London, the challenge-led competition has been designed to encourage SMEs and entrepreneurs to come forward with technology that will help the capital’s major infrastructure providers gain a shared understanding of the location and state of their underground assets.
The Stream EM represents innovation in mobile GPR data capture. Through high-density data acquisition, it delivers reliable and precise 3D interpretations of underground assets for BIM and smart city standards, collected through a vehicle-towed, multi-channel ground penetrating radar system. Data is collected on site 90% quicker than with traditional methods and the information acquired can be shared among stakeholders for a greater collaboration with a BIM-ready solution.
Other benefits include a reduced risk to personnel, with live data being captured from the vehicle-towed frame of dual frequency antennas that negate the needs for static traffic management and reduce disruption. Using EML technology in conjunction with the IDS stream can achieve the highest quality standard level for locating utilities, as detailed in the BSI PAS-128 specification.
