According to the SwissRe Institute, global insured losses from natural catastrophes exceeded $100 billion for the fourth consecutive year. In 2023, there were 142 natural catastrophes, setting a new record. While hurricanes remain the most threatening weather events, severe Convective Storms (SCS) and the associated hail accounted for a record high of $64 billion in insured losses in 2023.
