We want to acknowledge that we are living through challenging times. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of our communities for months now and people around the country and the world have been experiencing natural disasters ranging from fires to hurricanes to floods. A psychologist colleague recently said that most people, even if they are not currently experiencing an acute challenging life experience, are living with some level of what she calls “ambient distress.”

Our relationship with the world around us, our Self, our bodies, our moods and emotions can often feel like a mystery. Fear is a prominent emotion for many people right now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and, for those of us living in different parts of the US, the wildfires and hurricanes have created additional stress. We may even experience moments of panic — having thoughts driven by fear which are disproportionate with the immediate risk. Our body may respond to a “perceived” threat of COVID, natural disaster or other major stressors, when we think about what could happen. Our bodies and minds respond the same way to a perceived threat as they would to an actual immediate threat. A stress response is activated and our mind races, we feel like we can’t breath and we might experience other physical symptoms like insomnia, upset stomach, or restlessness. Research has shown that just watching traumatic or distressing news can even trigger symptoms similar to PTSD and right now many people are living in fairly stressful and traumatic realities.

At a Time When Our World Needs a New Form of Leadership

While I write this long-awaited (and exciting) announcement, I am struck by the eerie view outside my window and the symbolism it evokes.Dense wildfire smoke above the fog here on the Mendocino Coast has created a bizarre and other-worldy perpetual twilight — as if I am wearing those special yellow-tinted eyeglasses for night driving. Is it no coincidence that I am writing today to share the debut of our Noetic Leadership conversation series?

With the challenges of the last six months, one thing has become increasingly obvious: access to noetic wisdom and tools is essential for our resilience and well being. When the global pandemic began last Spring, we made the decision to make our ConnectIONS Live webinars free to all. During these weekly sessions we invited guests to engage in in-depth conversations on science, spirituality, leadership, purpose, collective consciousness, and so much more. We had such a positive response, and so many of you have shared how these webinars have impacted your lives, that we decided we have to keep the flow going.

In 2020, the world has been disrupted in an unprecedented way. The global pandemic and its cascading effects are leading us towards unprecedented challenges… or could it in fact be leading us to an evolutionary leap forward as we redesign what human civilization looks like?

To those of us in our last third of life, we’ve both been here before and we’ve never seen times like these.

At the Institute of Noetic Sciences, our guiding premise is that all things are interconnected and that embodying that awareness reveals information and energy not limited by space and time, and can profoundly amplify transformation, innovation, and well-being. We believe that all people have the ability to access this kind of information and energy at some level. There are lots of words to describe it (clairvoyance, telepathy, psychokinesis, precognition, psi, psychic, channeling, extended human capacities, anomalous information reception… the list goes on and on) and not many people feel comfortable talking about their personal experiences with it.

The Science of Consciousness (TSC) conference, sponsored by The Center for Consciousness Studies, is the world’s longest running interdisciplinary conference addressing fundamental aspects of consciousness, the brain, reality and existence. The 2020 TSC ONLINE: TSC Consciousness Reboot – September 14-18, 2020 – will include plenary and keynote sessions and will be livestreamed/virtual with live Q&A discussion for each session. The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) Science Team will present a pre-conference workshop on “Interconnectedness” on Monday, September 14th from 2:00 – 6:00 pm (MST).

Chief Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, Dr. Dean Radin, was recently interviewed on Coast-to-Coast with George Noory about consciousness and psychic phenomena. In the first half of the interview, Dr. Radin discussed his work with the Global Consciousness Project (GCP), along with updates on psi and healing experiments. The GCP has been collecting data for over 23 years using electronic devices called random number generators (RNGs), which are located around the globe. There is evidence that these devices respond to fluctuations in mass attention during significant world events. “The biggest reaction in the RNG data so far,” he said, “is the pandemic, and of course, we’re still in the midst of it.” Rather than a random walk that fluctuates around chance, the curve over the last six months is headed straight down (away from chance), he continued, and this is the most dramatic long-term change observed in the sequences in all their years of data collection. Based on this and many other experiments, Dr. Radin has concluded that mind and matter are interwoven in fundamental ways, and it’s their mysterious interaction that contributes to the effects seen in the GCP.
