Leesburg, Va.—The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) encourages counter personnel and parts professionals to renew or upgrade their ASE parts specialist certifications.
ASE offers two parts specialist tests:
The ASE Parts Specialist Certification Tests are designed to improve the quality of service offered by automobile and medium-heavy truck parts specialists through the voluntary testing and certification of parts professionals.
“To succeed in today’s increasingly technical automotive service environment, parts specialists must stay current with evolving vehicle systems, technology and customer expectations,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of ASE. “ASE certification demonstrates a commitment to professionalism and helps parts specialists distinguish themselves in a competitive marketplace. We encourage certified professionals to renew their credentials and those seeking advancement to pursue additional ASE certifications.”
To become ASE Certified, parts specialists must pass one or more parts series tests and provide proof of two years of work experience specifically related to parts counter work. The required experience must be focused on parts operations rather than hands-on automotive repair.
ASE certification is valid for five years. To maintain certification status, parts specialists must retest every five years.
ASE offers a free, online study guide that contains test specifications, tasks lists, sample test questions and training resources. For more information about ASE parts specialist testing and other ASE tests, visit www.ase.com/test-series.
