In October, we hosted Backpacker Freelance Journalist Mary Beth Skylis for a media visit to the Greater Birmingham Region’s greenspaces and trails. After Hurricane Helene’s devastating damage to the trails of North Carolina and part of the Tennessee Appalachian Trail, hikers are now looking for new trail alternatives to explore, some of which Alabama “The Beautiful” offers.
