Sausage and mash is a classic combination, providing the perfect option for a warm, hearty meal. We created it at Young Academics Early Learning Centre, and it sure was a favourite amongst the little ones. Here is the simple recipe for parents and their little chefs to try.
12 sliced beef sausages
1 large onion
Mixed frozen veggies
1 can of diced tomatoes
½ bottle of passata
1 tablespoon of mixed dried herbs
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 tablespoon of sweet paprika
1 tablespoon of garlic
Start by sautéing onions and garlic, until golden
Add sausages and cook until brown
Slowly add herbs, diced tomatoes, mixed vegetable and passata
Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 ½ hours
While waiting for this, prepare your mashed potatoes
Once ready, serve the hot pot with mashed potatoes on the side
For a vegetarian option, you can even replace beef sausages with vegan sausages.
