Learning a #language is never easy. Growing up in a family of primarily Spanish-speakers, I still can't honestly say that I am fluent in #Spanish. I can at least understand what people are saying, I just can't hold an intellectual conversation in Spanish. The most I can do is small talk, which is at least something, right? Learning a new language is like learning an instrument: You need to practice every day, and you need to commit to practicing. It won't take a couple weeks to learn an entire language, it never does.
Don't believe what the ads tell you! It's a long-term commitment, but a helpful one. As a former musician, it took years of practice before I even became comfortable playing a guitar in front of people. Learning a language is the same. I've taken 3 years of Spanish in high school. I became pretty proficient in the language, but unfortunately, I didn't keep up with practicing. After 3 years of practice, I never became fluent like I wanted to be in high school, but the 3 years of knowledge never went away. It just hasn't been improved since then. Maybe if I continued practicing in college I would actually be fluent now, but oh well. Like I've said before, learning a new language is a commitment, you have to want it.
