Nora is attending St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York in fall. The College Solutions team recently caught up with her to find out what attracted her to St. Lawrence and what she’s most looking forward to when she attends later this year.
When I found out I got into St. Lawrence, my parents and I had sushi which is how we celebrate pretty much every special occasion and accomplishment.
I was first attracted to SLU when I came across photos of the beautiful campus and surrounding area.
I’m really excited to be living in the north country and to explore the beautiful space that surrounds the school. And maybe enjoy some skiing too.
Although it wasn’t my top priority when choosing a school, SLU does have an equestrian team that I hope to get involved with.
I’m super excited to meet new people, get involved on campus, and to live in a new place.
Currently, I plan on majoring in biology as I’m interested in pursuing a science-based career.
I was very fortunate to get the opportunity to visit St. Lawrence pre-COVID during my junior year where I immediately felt at home. With schoolwork being light at the beginning of quarantine, I found it easy to focus on researching schools and began the process of writing my personal essay.
Other than getting to visit St. Lawrence before everything shut down, my main way to get to know it and all the others on my list was to attend online info sessions and by taking virtual tours.
I found the master list of schools [provided by College Solutions] to be very useful in starting to narrow down my options as well as to start my research. I also really liked having my applications looked over before submitting them. It helped me feel so much more confident.
Now that the pressure is off, I have been spending time with friends as well as hanging out at the barn.
To keep in touch, I plan on texting and facetiming often.
I’m planning on working and riding as well as spending time with my friends and family before I leave.
