The region just secured $44M in federal funding as part of a new Tech Hubs program, the Birmingham Biotechnology Hub Grant. The money is being awarded to Southern Research and UAB to create artificial intelligence drug discovery platforms and to Alabama Community College System, Lawson State Community College and the Propel Center to provide advanced biotechnology training and workforce development.
This is a HUGE win for the region's rise as a biotechnology powerhouse. We can't wait to see how this impacts our economic landscape.
